Chris Martin and Beth Davidson from the Luxury Coast Group of Barry Estates recently hosted their first Annual Charity “Pickle-bowl” Tournament at the Santaluz Club in San Diego. The event, which featured doubles matches for players of all skill levels, was a huge success and raised a total of $3000 for A Bridge for Kids, a local charity organization that helps underprivileged teens achieve their academic goals.
All proceeds from the tournament were donated to A Bridge for Kids, which has been offering sponsorships to bright and driven low-income teens in San Diego County since 2012. The organization provides a range of resources and opportunities to help students break through financial barriers and unlock their full potential, including college campus tours, financial alleviation, college essay writing, SAT/ACT preparatory classes, tutoring, internships, and much more.
Attendees at the tournament enjoyed delicious tacos and margaritas while watching the matches, and raffle tickets were sold for prizes including a 5-day trip to Mexico and gift cards to Rancho Valencia. Prizes were also awarded to the winners in each category, with Sean Barry and Bruno Francois taking the top spot in the social level and Chris Martin and Golden Tate emerging victorious in the advanced level.
Beth Davidson, one of the tournament organizers, said, “We were thrilled to host this tournament for such a great cause. A Bridge for Kids is doing important work in our community, and we’re grateful for the opportunity to support them. It was also great to see so many people come out and have fun playing pickleball while making a difference in the lives of local teens.”
Overall, the event was a huge success, raising much-needed funds for A Bridge for Kids and providing a fun day of pickleball for all who attended. The Luxury Coast Group of Barry Estates and the Santaluz Club are already planning their next charity tournament, and they hope to make an even bigger impact in the community next time around.
