A few minutes away on Valley Centre Drive, I Can Barbecue Korean Grill is slated to take over the long-vacant former Souplantation space, its first location anywhere in San Diego County. That's a commercial address that's sat dark for a while, and it's filling now, in the fall, not on a summer opening push timed to catch patio traffic.
Neither of these bets needed the concert series or the splash pad to justify the location. They're betting on the traffic that's there year round, the market crowd, the library crowd, the people who already treat this stretch of Del Mar Heights Road as a Tuesday errand rather than a summer destination.
What an Actual Fall Saturday Looks Like
Strip away the seasonal programming and here's what's still running exactly as it did in July:
